My name is Travis Smith, and I am a WordPress Enthusiast. WordPress is a passion and a hobby of mine. This site is dedicated to talking about things I learn in WordPress, specifically Genesis, and PHP. While I can create code, write code, talk code, etc., I prefer to write to the person who is trying to do their site on their own and who doesn't know anything.
As almost every other developer, I also write to remember things because if I don't write it down then I may forget it. And sometimes I create code for a very specific purpose and instead of trying to remember on which project I did it, I can come here. So it serves as a personal learning environment of sorts.
By trade, training, and education, I am a professional instructional designer, ROI certified consultant, curriculum writer, educationalist, and a "theologian." Supposedly, I am a Master of Theology (a least that's what the sheet of paper says I am), and professionally I have worked in churches and corporations as a corporate operations manager (5+ years), quality/customer service manager (2 years), classroom teaching (2 years), and am currently working in corporate learning and development (6+ years). I have also served as a Social Media consultant to the companies I've worked and consultants with whom I have worked.
I am a self-taught programmer (which means that my code is always improving) in PHP, ActionScript, and JavaScript (specifically jQuery), who practices code sometime during lunch, after work, while sleeping, when my family is on vacation without me, and whenever else I can.
For full disclosure, I am an affiliate with StudioPress, DIYThemes, and Hostgator as well as my other recommendations, all of which I have used or am currently using on this site or a site that I have developed. I do not recommend anything that I wouldn't use or have used myself.
